02.14.06 | Get your financial aid now
…because according to reports in the Chronicle of Higher Education, financial aid might be a thing of the past by 2010, if the reports are true.
From Mark Kantrowitz:
The Chronicle is reporting that Mr. Bush plans to cut federal student aid funding from $19.2 billion to $13.8 billion by 2010. This includes eliminating Direct Lending. The Chronicle’s report is based on an OMB planning document obtained by the Washington Post. Most of the cuts will occur next year according to that document. (And everything else looks to be flat funded, with no CPI increases.)
This is why it’s more important than ever to get your FAFSA done early, and to hunt for scholarships all year long.
