09.04.08 | 2009-2010 FAFSA Processing Changes

Posted in FAFSA by Christopher Penn

The Department of Education has released additional guidance about how processing for next year’s FAFSA will be handled.

FAFSA on the Web

The FAFSA on the Web application will now let you complete and save a FAFSA even if you don’t have parental information, so you can come back later and complete that part. This is a huge improvement over previous years, when your application would simply be automatically rejected.

You will still need to provide parental information if required; however, the system will let you at least get some of your FAFSA saved.

FAFSA Reminders

The Department of Education will email you twice, 7 and 14 days after starting an application, to let you know that your application needs to be finished if you leave it incomplete.
